Devendra Fadnavis to hold meeting with Maharashtra BJP leaders today

Amid the political turmoil in Maharashtra, former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and state BJP chief Chandrakant Dada Patil will hold a meeting with all party leaders in Mumbai on Friday. 

“Former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrakant Dada Patil will hold a meeting with all the party leaders in Mumbai today. From district to booth leaders, MPs and MLAs, all will attend the meeting,” Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Bandra West Ashish Shelar said in a press conference. 

He said that the party will be reaching out to 90,000 booths of the BJP in order to strengthen them. The party’s MLAs and MPs will be meeting farmers to provide them immediate relief, he added.

CM post will go to Sena in three-party Maharashtra govt: NCP

The chief minister’s post in Maharashtra will go to the Shiv Sena in the government being planned by the saffron party with the NCP and the Congress, NCP chief spokesman Nawab Malik has said. The Shiv Sena contested the October 21 Assembly polls in alliance with the BJP as part of the ‘Mahayuti’ (mega alliance),  which was in a comfortable position to form government in the state, winning 161 seats in the 288-member house.

Maharashtra unlikely get new govt within the next fortnight, suggests Nawab Malik

There are all indications that suggest that Maharashtra will not get a new government at least for the next few days.  When asked about the three parties’ plans to stake claim for government formation, NCP leader Nawab Malik first said that the discussions were still in early stages, and things will be finalised only after NCP leader Sharad Pawar meets Sonia Gandhi. 

Pawar is currently in Vidarbha, meeting farmers whose crops were destroyed in unseasonal October rains. He is likely to meet Sonia only after 17 November, when he will be in Delhi to attend the Winter Session of the Parliament.

BJP MLA warns Sanjay Raut, says Shiv Sena leader should ’think twice before speaking’

BJP MLA from Bandra West Ashish Shelar further hit out at Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut for his remark that BJP president Amit Shah did not tell Prime Minister Narendra Modi about Sena-BJP’s 50:50 formula, which was decided for the Assembly polls in Maharashtra. 

“Amit Shah, Narendra Modi and Devendra Fadnavis have similar working styles and they all work together. They (Sena) say something to create conflict between Thackrey and Modi. But everyone can see on their televisions in the morning as to who is trying to create conflict,” BJP MLA said. 

“However, I want to tell him that he will not be successful. Also, Sanjay Raut needs to take several births to understand Modi and Shah. He should think twice before saying anything about the two,” he said.

‘Only talking to Shiv-Sena, Congress for govt formation’: Sharad Pawar

Asked whether the BJP was holding discussion with the​ NCP over government formation in the state, the former Union minister Sharad Pawar said his party was holding talks with only the Shiv Sena, the Congress and its allies and nobody beyond these.

He said the three parties are at present working out a common minimum programme (CMP) that will guide the actions of the government being planned in the state. Representatives of the three parties met in Mumbai on Thursday and prepared a draft CMP.

Devendra Fadnavis meets governor, seeks release of funds for farmers

Former MaharashtraChief Minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis on Friday called on Governor​ Bhagat Singh Koshyari and urged him to release funds for  farmers affected by unseasonal rains.

Fadnavis also sought reopening and smooth functioning of the CM Relief Fund through the governor’s office to ensure timely help for needy persons as the state was currently under President’s rule.  He said the governor had accepted both his demands.

“Yes we are going to meet the governor tomorrow. But any reportage suggesting that it is to stake claim for government formation is false. We are meeting the governor because the administration of Maharashtra is at a standstill since the imposition of President’s rule. Several applications for funds from chief minister’s relief funds are pending. Farmers are suffering. So we will meet government to discuss on these issues,” Malik told News18 India

Draft CMP with Sena, NCP focuses on farmers, jobs: Congress leader

The draft common minimum programme (CMP) prepared ahead of government formation in Maharashtra focuses on farmers and measures to tackle unemployment, a senior Congress leader said on Friday. Leaders of the Congress, the NCP and the Shiv Sena met here on Thursday to work out a common minimum programme (CMP) before finalising a possible alliance for government formation in Maharashtra involving the three parties.

Talking to PTI, the Congress leader, who did not wish to be named, said representatives of the Congress, the NCP and the Sena have prepared a draft CMP which will now be approved and finalised by top leaders of the three parties. “All inclusive development and justice to all sections of the society is the criteria on what we will work if the CMP is approved by the leadership of all three parties,” he said. Among other issues, the draft CMP focuses on solving the problems being faced by farmers and tackling unemployment, the Congress leader said.
