As the polls seem to indicate that the BJP may not be coming to power on its own in the state, the party is already hoping that former ally Shiv Sena won’t have a problem allying with it again. “We are hoping that they will go with the party that the people have chosen rather than those the people have rejected,” a BJP spokesperson told CNN-IBN. An earlier _Firstpost_ report notes that while many theories are floating over the Shiv Sena’s role in post poll alliance with BJP, it seems that not going with the BJP will hardly do any good for the Sena. Uddhav-led Sena will suffer its first setback in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) as BJP is likely to pull the plug if it forms the government on its own. Currently, BMC is ruled by the Shiv Sena-BJP combine with the Sena as the major partner. BMC is the Shiv Sena’s main source of generating party funds and retaining control over the political affairs in Mumbai. Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena took a softer line towards the BJP on Friday and talked of some possibility of reconciliation with the former alliance partner. “Maharashtra needs stability and peace and for that some compromises may have to be reached. Let us see what numbers come out on Sunday,” Sena mouthpiece Saamna said on Friday.
