Mumbai: The Maharashtra unit of Aam Adami Party (AAP) today alleged that the Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra are riddled with electoral malpractices and violations by the Congress, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Shiv Sena.

The allegations include putting up a dummy candidate in Mumbai North West constituency, making false statements in affidavits, putting up hoardings across the state, tampering with the EVM machines, several cases of bogus voting with others.

"The sitting Congress MP Gurudas Kamat from Mumbai North West Lok Sabha constituency has fielded a dummy candidate. It is a corrupt practice and in gross violation of the provisions of the section 123 (4) of Representation of the People Act with sections of Indian Penal Code," it alleged in a statement issued on Thursday adding that it has also lodged the complaint with the returning officer.

It said that the Shiv Sena candidate from Mumbai North West, Gajanan Kirtikar, has suppressed facts about his second wife and her assets in the affidavit.

"The Congress party has put up hoardings all over Maharashtra, therein declaring 'Rs 1 lakh loan to women', '25% reservation for women in police force' etc. In our view, such practice is an open offer or promise of gratification made with the object of directly or indirectly inducing the elector to cast a vote in its favour and therefore falls under the ambit of 'corrupt practices' as defined under section 123 (1) (A) of Representation of the People Act, 1950," the AAP said in the statement.

It further alleged that the cases of illegal hoardings and banners were also reported in Mumbai South Central Lok Sabha constituency by the Shiv Sena candidate Rahul Shewale and in Kalyan Lok Sabha Constituency by the Shiv Sena, MNS and NCP candidates.

"The fines on each is Rs 1 crore or more and should be accounted for in the expenditure of each of the candidates of the respective political parties. Such being the case, each of these candidates will face disqualification having breached the ceiling of Rs 70 lakh," read the statement adding that the tampering of EVM machines was reported in Bhandara Gondia Lok Sabha consituency, wherein NCP leader and union minster Praful Patel is contesting the election.

In Baramati Lok Sabha constituency, AAP candidate Suresh Khopade has lodged a complaint against NCP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar for relating the booth wise data in his speech thereby intimidating the electors under particular booths where lesser votes to NCP were cast.

"The cases of bogus voting were reported in Madha Lok Sabha constituency but neither the EC officials nor the police personnel on duty are taking any steps to curb the menace," it said adding that the sample ballot paper exhibited outside each Polling Booths carries a 'canceled' stamp against the election symbol of AAP (broom) in Ahmednagar district giving an impression that the said candidate is not in the fray.
