Owing to the Model Code of Conduct, Chhattisgarh will hold a low key Rajyotsav, the statehood day celebration on 30 October. State Governor Shekhar Dutt will inaugurate the three day celebration. A Times of India report said: “The state had celebrated its foundation day with much pomp and show last November, when President Pranab Mukherjee dedicated Naya Raipur and also declared the new mantralaya ‘Mahanadi Bhawan’ open. He gave away the state-level awards to 22 individuals and three organizations.” Chhattisgarh will have a two-phase poll on 11 and 19 November to elect its new assembly. The counting of votes is on 8 December.
