Gorakhpur/Varanasi: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday condemned the attack on BJP chief Amit Shah’s rally and requested the President to suspend the West Bengal government immediately citing lack of law and order situation in the state. “BJP president Amit Shah was undertaking his road show according to the permission granted to him, the barbaric attack on his road show reveals the real situation in West Bengal. The EC should take notice of this government-sponsored attack, we would also request the President to either suspend the state government or put the state under President rule,” Adityanath said at a press conference. Reuters[/caption] Union minister Piyush Goyal also condemned the attack and termed it the response of West Bengal chief minister’s bafflement with the rising support for BJP in the state. He also stated that the people were fed up with Banerjee and will oust her from power. “Mamata Banerjee got so nervous after seeing the massive support for BJP in Amit Shah’s road show that she ordered a life-threatening attack on the roadshow. Stone pelting was carried out, kerosene bombs were thrown and TMC’s history sheeters were behind all the commotion and chaos in Kolkata. The people will give their reply to the attack on May 19 with their votes,” Goyal said at a press conference. Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis also condemned the attacks on Shah’s rally and termed that democracy is under threat in the state. “Democracy is being murdered in West Bengal. Mamata Banerjee is so afraid of losing that she does not want anyone to even campaign. Democracy is facing a severe challenge in Bengal, I would request the EC to ensure free and fair polls in the state without our workers getting murdered and leaders getting hurt for the campaign,” he told ANI. This came after clashes broke out this evening at the mega roadshow of Shah in Kolkata resulting in utter chaos after sticks were hurled at his convoy and police resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the crowd. Clashes reportedly broke out after some miscreants started throwing sticks at the convoy in which Shah was travelling, leading to arson and violence.
