Lok Sabha day one to be adjourned after tribute to Munde

New Delhi: With the death of Union Minister Gopinath Munde, the schedule of the first session of the Lok Sabha, beginning tomorrow, has undergone some changes. The opening day of the six-day session will be adjourned for the day after Secretary General P Sreedharan reads out the notification constituting the 16th Lok Sabha and the House pays tributes to Munde. Munde, who was a member of the last Lok Sabha as well as the new House, died in a road mishap today. [caption id=“attachment_1555021” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]  Gopinath Munde. PTI[/caption] As the House will be adjourned after obituary reference, the oath-taking of new members cannot take place tomorrow. As per the original schedule, new members were to take oath tomorrow and day after. According to the revised schedule, new members will now take oath on 5 June till late in night and half day of 6 June, Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu told reporters. During the second half of 6 June, the election of the Speaker will be taken up. Till then senior Congress MP Kamal Nath, who has been made the Protem Speaker, will preside over the proceedings. Nath will be administered oath by President Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan before the Lok Sabha assembles for the day. On 9 June, President Mukherjee will address the joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament, which will outline the Narendra Modi government’s roadmap. The discussion on the Motion of Thanks will be taken up as per the original schedule on 10 and 11 June before the session is adjourned sine die. The Rajya Sabha has been convened from June 9 and will adjourn along with the Lok Sabha. PTI
