Congress won Karnataka elections because of media, says JD(S) Kumaraswamy

Bangalore: HD Kumaraswamy, former chief minister of Karnataka and JDS chief blamed the media for JD(S)’ poor results in the polls. “Right from the start of the campaign, the media had incited the voters and mislaid them against us. That’s why they didn’t vote for us,” Kumaraswamy told the reporters. “Without having any support from any circle, we will still get 40-45 seats,” said Kumaraswamy. He added that he was more disappointed with the results of the JD(S) in northern Karnataka than anywhere else. [caption id=“attachment_762773” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] HD Kumaraswamy. Agencies. He refuted claims to having secretly tied up with the BJP. “I’m neither a king, nor a kingmaker. If people think that Congress is best for the state, then let us see. If Congress wins, I think it will be because of the media and the way their media friends have spread wrong information about us,” said Kumaraswamy. “..if people have blessed us to sit in the opposition, we will sit in the opposition,” said  Kumaraswamy told reporters, as the results of the May five Assembly polls came in. The JD(S) won two seats and was ahead in 39 others. Kumaraswamy, whose party has not only retained its base intact but also eaten into the ruling BJP votes, said, " We will surely sit in the opposition and will safeguard the interests of people." “We will accept the defeat. The people have directed us to sit in the opposition,” he said.
