Kerala medical scam: Ananth Kumar rejects Congress' charge of corruption in BJP

New Delhi: Parliamentary Affairs minister Ananth Kumar on Thursday termed as “baseless” the Congress’ charge that the BJP has received money for getting the Centre’s nod for setting up of private medical colleges in Kerala. Responding to the allegation by Congress MP KC Venugopal in the Lok Sabha, Kumar said the Congress member should not be allowed to impose such a wild allegation. PTI[/caption] “It is totally baseless…If there is a party which is known for corruption that is the Congress party. The Congress party is the mother of all corrupt activities and all the scams from 2G, from 4G or damaad ji, everything,” the minister said. Raising the issue during the Zero Hour, Venugopal alleged that “a BJP internal investigation report had come out which confirmed that the party received Rs 5.50 crore for getting the Central government’s sanction for starting private medical colleges in the state.” This, he added, was a very serious scam “involving many BJP leaders in the state”. The Congress MP from Alappuzha said the BJP was trying to hide this “very serious” allegation only because of the internal rivalry in the party. “On the one hand, the government is saying that they are taking action against hawala and black money and on the other hand their own internal enquiry revealed that the hawala money came to Delhi,” Venugopal said, adding the matter should be investigated.
