Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao, popularly called KCR, was today sworn in as the new Chief Minister of newly-carved out state of Telangana. AFP[/caption] Eleven others were also sworn in as Cabinet Ministers by Governor E S L Narasimhan, who administered them oath of office and secrecy at Raj Bhavan. Earlier this morning, ESL Narasimhan was himself sworn in as the first Governor. The Cabinet included Rao’s son K T Rama Rao and nephew T Harish Rao. Nine other Cabinet Ministers are Mohammed Mahmood Ali, T Rajaiah, Nayani Narasimha Reddy, Eatela Rajender, Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy, T Padma Rao, P Mahender Reddy, Jogu Ramanna and G Jagadish Reddy. KCR will, later today, hold a meeting with his Cabinet. After that, he intends to address the brand new state of Telangana. Top on his agenda would be to ensure peace and amity among people, business continuity in Hyderabad, and amicably resolving all issues with the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, despite serious political acrimony with Chandrababu Naidu. 2 June will now be celebrated as Telangana Formation Day. The Ministry of Home Affairs has now revoked the President’s rule which was imposed in the state.
