Kameeno is the most polite word I've used for netas: APP supporter, Vishal Dadlani

New Delhi: “Paanch Saal Kejriwal, Paanch Saal Kejriwal” – thus goes the jingle as a large procession of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) passes through a street at Alaknanda in South East Delhi. Then out of nowhere, a well-built, stout man with a clean-shaven head and a French-cut beard surfaces. He climbs up the jeep of AAP candidate from Greater Kailash, Saurabh Bhardwaj, and enthusiastically waves his hands at the public. A huge applause breaks out, and people all around start shouting loudly – “Viishhaaal, Vishhaal.” This is Bollywood’s famous music composer Vishal Dadlani of the composer duo Vishal-Shekhar (other is Shekhar Ravjiani) who has worked in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Marathi films and probably the AAP’s only star campaigner who draws such a large crowd. As he goes about interacting with the crowd later, effusing warmth and easy charm, none of the airs that come with being successful in Bollywood is visible. [caption id=“attachment_2073459” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![Courtesy: Facebook ](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/vishal_380.jpg) Courtesy: Facebook[/caption] Vishal is a die-hard AAP supporter and campaigner. It is his composition – Paanch Saal Kejriwal – that has become a catch line for the party and gripped the minds of Delhi voters. What makes this successful music composer-cum-singer from Mumbai become a part of AAP? “I’m with the party because its leaders do not work for personal gains, while those in other parties do. By associating myself with the AAP, I am aiming to make India a corruption-free country and the AAP provides me a hope and an opportunity to achieve it,” Vishal told Firstpost, while moving with the rally towards CR Park. “I strongly feel that one should stand for one’s rights and here I get to do so as a citizen in a democracy.” Unlike the BJP and the Congress, the AAP doesn’t have a battery of stars and celebrities to showcase. But, Vishal’s popularity can well be judged while moving along with him in the procession. Vishal-Shekhar duo that came into prominence after scoring music for Jhankar Beats, went on to churn out several hits in films like Dostana, Om Shanti Om, Bachna Ae Haseeno, Channai Express and the latest Happy New Year among many others. Vishal is also the vocalist of Mumbai-based electronic band Pentagram. He collaborated with Imogen Heap on the song “Minds Without Fear” for an episode of The Dewarists. While playing the AAP’s theme song composed by Vishal that narrates the story of corruption in the system, what needs to be done and why one should vote for AAP, the procession enters the Bengali-dominated up-market locality of Chittaranjan Park (CR Park). As it reaches the CR Park Market, Vishal climbs down the jeep and goes to the people in the market to greet them with a Namashkar and seek their support. All of a sudden a group of young boys and girls surrounds him for a ‘Selfie’, which he obliges and asks them to give collective support to AAP. “He has given so many hit numbers in Hindi films and we see him on TV shows. But we never expected him to be so humble,” says Sanjay, a young grocer. Vishal ensured to visit each and every shop with his request to support his party. “Vishal Dadlani’s theme song for AAP Paanch Saal Kejriwal has been a hit and successful in connecting with the masses. Probably no slogan or jingle of any party is as popular as this,” remarked Rithwik Shome, an engineering student and resident of CR Park. Vishal’s shows are getting a huge response. He is now entertaining audiences with more compositions, after this AAP theme song. At Market No 2, he even ensured to explain some why one should support AAP. But, is he aware of the issues of Delhi? “The first and the foremost is women’s safety. We’ve to ensure this and AAP is serious on this issue. We talked about this issue apart from many others like youth and education etc during our Delhi Dialogue.” “Besides, we have to take care of this national capital and improve the life of the people living in every corner of Delhi,” he smiled with a wink. Vishal gave a performance during the launch of AAP’s unique initiative Delhi Dialogue at Jantar Mantar in November 2014. Besides being a composer and an active AAP member, Vishal is active on social networking platform like Facebook and Twitter. He is unabashedly vocal on Twitter when it comes to criticizing politicians or taking opponents head-on. Like in the past, Vishal had tweeted: “I will happily admit that when it comes to talking about our corrupt politicians, ‘kameeno’ is one of the most polite words I’ve ever used!” On another occasion, after the telecast of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s interview on a TV channel, he promptly tweeted, “Stuck between a moron and a murderer….what now, India!?” When asked about his tweeting skill, Vishal simply smiled and with folded hands said, “Please vote for AAP. We want your support to form government in Delhi. Through Tweets I try to remain connected with my well wishers like you all.”
