JD(U) issues notice to two ministers over remarks on dead jawans

New Delhi: The JD(U) on Sunday issued a show cause notice to its two Bihar ministers asking why disciplinary action should not be initiated against them. The notices were served to Rural Development minister Bhim Singh and Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh. Bhim Singh was pulled up for his remarks on the killing of soldiers along LoC. PTI[/caption] Party president Sharad Yadav said that their statements were “against the policy, ethics and norms of JD(U)” and asked them to explain within seven days “why disciplinary action should not be taken against you on the above misconduct”. On 8 August, Bhim Singh was criticised by JD(U) leader KC Tyagi for his insensitive remark while responding to reporters’ question about the absence of state ministers at the airport to receive the bodies of four of the five soldiers martyred in the ambush in Jammu and Kashmir. Tyagi had said that the latter should apologise to the people of the state and to the families of the brave hearts who laid down their lives for the country. Tyagi had said Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has asked the Rural Minister to take back his statement and apologise, adding “The party condemns his comments. The Bihar Chief Minister has asked him to take back his statement and apologize,” said Tyagi. “He must apologise to people of Bihar and to the families of martyrs,” he added. Bhim Singh, however, on Thursday apologised for his insensitive remark. “I apologise if my distorted comments have caused pain to the people minister. Chief Minister called me up and he expressed his displeasure at my comment. My comments have been distorted, I had not said that,” he had told media in Patna. Earlier tn an insult to the men in uniform, Bhim Singh said that people joined the Indian Army and the police force just to die. “Sena aur police me log marne hi jate hain (People join the army and the police force only to die),” he told media in Patna, when asked about the absence of state ministers at the airport. “Did your father and mother go (to receive the soldiers’ bodies),” he added, while posing a counter question to a reporter. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Ram Kripal Yadav also lashed out at Bhim Singh for his appalling remark insulting the soldiers killed by Pakistanis at the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, and said Chief Minister Nitish Kumar should immediately sack him.
