If you have that much money, implement OROP: Kejriwal to Modi on Bihar package

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi ridiculing him over his package for poll-bound Bihar, and said he should instead implement the ‘One Rank One Pension’ scheme for the ex-servicemen. PTI[/caption] Mocking Modi’s Rs 1.25 lakh crore package for Bihar, Kejriwal said that he had made a number of such promises in the run-up to the Lok Sabha polls, which are yet to be fulfilled and claimed that people who had voted for Modi in huge number are now “disenchanted” with the BJP leader. “The way he was saying Rs 50,000 crore, Rs 60,000 crore…Was he there to sell Bihar? Was he trying to buy votes of people of Bihar? If you have that much money, go to Jantar Mantar and implement ‘One Rank One Pension’. But the intention is not to give but to buy votes. Slowly the trust is going down considering people had high hopes from him. “Hopes of youth have been shattered. A reputed institute like FTII has been destroyed. IIT’s and the education sector is being toyed with. Media has been sent notices,” Kejriwal alleged. The chief minister also mocked Modi’s pre-poll promise of bringing back blackmoney stashed abroad, saying people were now being made to do Yoga. “You should have said this while campaigning, then we could see how many votes you could garner.” Kejriwal equated Modi’s DNA barbs at Bihar Chief Minister Nithish Kumar, with him being called a ’naxalite’ in the run-up to the Delhi Assembly polls and BJP advertisements over his ‘gotra’, saying a “Delhi pattern” was playing out in Bihar. “I was sad to hear the Prime Minister say that the DNA of Bihar is bad. Some months back, the Prime Minister had called me a naxal. People of the country have rejected the politics of innuendo. To say that the DNA of people of Bihar is bad is wrong politics. “During Delhi polls, they had said that the gotra of Kejriwal is problematic. This was followed by the entire Agrawal community, which otherwise votes for the BJP, turning against Bihar. Many a time you do not need to do anything. They are themselves to work for their defeat. Like the incidents, which had happened during Delhi polls, similar things are happening in Bihar as well,” Kejriwal said. He also painted a contrasting picture of Modi against Kumar, saying the PM “weakened” the AAP government’s fight against corruption by forcefully taking over the ACB, sending paramilitary forces, while Kumar “strengthened” it by sending personnel from Bihar. “The ACB is under Delhi government for the last 23 years. But after formation of AAP government, the Prime Minister sent paramilitary forces on June 8 and captured the ACB. Since then ACB is not under the Delhi government,” Kejriwal claimed. The event, ‘Bihar Samman Samaroh’, where Kejriwal and Nitish shared the dais, was jointly organised by the Delhi government’s Cultural Affairs Department and Maithili-Bhojpuri Akademi, an autonomous government organisation, to award achievers from the Poorvanchali community in the capital. Eleven AAP MLAs hailing from that region and persons from different walks of life, who have significantly contributed in the fields such as literature, health and education, were felicitated on the occasion that saw a large presence of migrant community from Bihar. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Law and Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra, JD(U) Rajya Sabha MP KC Tyagi, AAP MLA Somnath Bharti were also present on the dais. “We had got inspiration from Nitishji’s style of working. We are making efforts to work in Delhi with the same momentum,” Sisodia said, recalling that Kumar had got an RTI call centre functioning within one month of being told about it by him and Kejriwal, unlike other chief ministers. Reacting to Kejriwal sharing stage with Kumar, Delhi BJP President Satish Upadhyay alleged, the “true political colour” of Delhi CM was out before the people through his support for “opportunist Nitish and corrupt Lalu alliance.” PTI
