Haasan called on Rajinikanth at his Chennai residence just days after he ruled out an alliance with the actor’s political party. Haasan told reporters it was a “friendly meeting”. Both actors have announced their decision to take the plunge into politics in Tamil Nadu.
Haasan will start his political journey on Wednesday from Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu. After announcing his political party’s name on 21 February at Tamil Nadu’s Ramanathapuram, he will embark on a state-wide tour. The tour will be held in phases. Haasan will begin the journey from his hometown and later visit people from the districts of Madurai, Dindigul and Sivagangai.
Haasan said he is embarking on an important journey of his life and he’d like to meet the people he likes before he does so. The 63-year-old superstar said his colour of politics is “black” signifying Dravidian.
On 17 January, Haasan said in a statement, “At the commencement of the journey, I intend to announce the name of my political party along with the guiding principles we intend to live by.”
The veteran actor said he intends to challenge the status quo “that has been plaguing the politics of Tamil Nadu for some time now”.
