May his message of compassion, tolerance and harmony guides us as a people and a nation.” The father of the nation, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born on 2 October, 1869, to Karamchand Gandhi and Putlibai in Gujarat. Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday is also observed as the International Day of Non-Violence all over the world. Rahul Gandhi also paid tributes to former prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary.
