Disappointment over not getting tickets to fight polls continue in Gujarat BJP, as many senior leaders chose to join the newly formed Gujarat Parivartan Party under Keshubhai Patel.
“BJP MLA Fatehsinh Chauhan and ex-MLA and Kheda district panchayat head Rakesh Rao have joined GPP to contest polls from their respective seats Kalol and Matar, while former minister Bimal Shah is set to contest as an Independent after he was denied ticket from Kapadvanj”— a report in the Hindustan Times said .
The so-called outsiders, who lost their seats due to delimitation, also faced opposition from the locals.
Defection by leaders unhappy with their original parties have been rife in Gujarat due to non-availability of tickets to fight the Assembly polls.
Gujarat votes on 13 and 17 December in a two-phase poll. The counting is scheduled on 20 December.
