Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will on Tuesday share the stage in Ahmedabad with Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who is the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. The event organised by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Memorial Society will also be attended by Gujarat Governor Kamla Beniwal and union Minister of State for Mines Dinsha Patel. Modi, who has been criticising Congress for ignoring Sardar Patel’s legacy, will lay the foundation stone for Patel’s proposed 182-metre tall statue on 31 October, the 138th birth anniversary of the ‘Iron Man’. Named the Statue of Unity, it will be installed in the middle of the Narmada riverbed facing the Sardar Sarovar Dam. IANS
