Gujarat govt spreading political terrorism in Congress strongholds: Vaghela

Ahmedabad: Congress on Friday alleged that BJP-led Gujarat government is spreading “political terrorism” by thrashing villagers in those areas which are traditional Congress strongholds. IBNLive[/caption] Leader of Opposition in Gujarat Assembly Shankersinh Vaghela, who represents Kapadvanj seat of Kheda district, took on the state government on the issue of scuffle between locals and police at Apruji-na-Muvada village of adjoining Kheda days back. To control angry villagers, police had fired at least 15 rounds. “Atrocities on poor villagers took place in my constituency. This BJP-led government is intentionally spreading political terrorism in Congress pockets to hide their inability. Since this area is a Congress stronghold, villagers are being thrashed out of vindictiveness,” alleged Vaghela talking to reporters in Ahmedabad on Friday. He then pointed out to a larger problem of panic in many villages of Kheda, Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar due to rumours since one month. As per the rumour, gangs of robbers and terrorists have entered into their area and attacking villagers during night. According to Vaghela, villagers are now forced to remain awake all through the night out of panic. “Though the government knew that such a rumour has gripped the minds of villagers, the administration did nothing to restore order. The attack on police in Apruji-na-Muvada was the result of such panic,” claimed Vaghela, who visited the village on Thursday. “Instead of bringing a solution, police have fired on poor villagers. When I visited that village yesterday, not a single local was present there, as all of them have fled due to police atrocities. If such rumours are not stopped, it will spread in entire Gujarat,” warned Vaghela. PTI
