Gujarat BJP MLAs deny watching porn inside assembly

Two BJP legislators were accused of watching porn in the Gujarat Assembly while the assembly proceedings were on but MLA Shankar Choudhary, one of the MLAs accused, said the allegations are 'completely baseless and false.'

"No such incident occurred. This is the conspiracy of the Congress government. They are trying to malign us," Choudhary said.

The two MLAs, Shankar Choudhary and Jetha Dharwad, were sitting in the back rows of the assembly and were reportedly sharing an iPad, which according to a senior journalist had “indecent pictures”.

Choudhary asked the media to watch the CCTV footage to get the 'correct picture' of the incident. He said, "Only CCTV footage will make doodh ka doodh aur pani ka paani."

He also said that he is not the kind of a person who can watch such 'dirty things'. "Why now? I'll never watch such things in my life."

The two MLAs had been sitting right under the media gallery and a senior journalist had taken a clipping of the content on the iPad. The journalist had then made a complaint to the Speaker’s assistant who intervened and got the two MLAs to take the iPad out of the assembly.

One of the journalists told the Times Now news channel that the ‘indecent’ pictures had been camouflaged by pictures of Swami Vivekananada.

The Gujarat Assembly was adjourned for an hour after a ruckus by Congress MLAs over the alleged scandal.

Reacting to the allegations against BJP MLAs, Congress spokesperson Manish Tiwari slammed BJP for violating temples of democracy.

"Sad that BJP ruled states are violating temples of democracy. This is their real 'charitra' (character)," he said.

Leader of Opposition in Gujarat Assembly Arjun Modhwadia said that BJP's real face has now been exposed and demanded that a House Committee should investigate the matter.

"BJP's real face came out in the open when legislators were caught watching porn clips in Karnataka assembly. Legislators in Gujarat also were caught watching obscene photographs. A house committee should investigate this case," Congress leader Modhwadia said.

Speaking to the media, a senior Gujarat Congress leader said, “This incident shows that the culture and character of the BJP have declined so much. They already did something like this in Karnataka and in Parliament they were caught on camera taking bribes for asking questions.”
