Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra — who is being investigated for allegedly dodgy land deals — hit back at his critics on Thursday saying he is being used by the rival parties for political gains, reported The Indian Express. Vadra in a Facebook post claimed that baseless allegations were levelled against him by “governments” for “almost a decade”. “I will always be used for political gains, I know … But I will walk with my head held high, as in time and with the truth which will conquer incorrect perceptions, created about me,” he said in the post.
Vadra has recently been issued a notice by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for his alleged involvement in a land scam in Bikaner. According to The Times of India, Vadra’s statement comes at a time when Justice SN Dhingra Commission, which was set up to probe land deals in Gurgaon, including one between realty major DLF and Vadra’s Skylight Hospitality, has informed the Haryana government that the probe has been completed. The one-man Dhingra commission, set up by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Haryana in May 2015 was to probe controversial land deals in Haryana, including Vadra’s land deals. The Bharatiya Janata Party had made Vadra’s land deals a prominent issue ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and the Haryana Assembly elections. With inputs from PTI
