Our govt has done work never seen before in the state: Jharkhand CM

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday said that his government had done so much work in just 13 months in the state that Jharkhand has never witnessed such work since its creation. But he admitted there were several other issues on which work had to be done. PTI[/caption] “We have worked on such issues which had remained untouched in 14 years,” Soren told reporters to a query. Issues like framing Local Policy, proper reservation in jobs for local people, honouring the families who had lost a member or members during Jharkhand movement and giving jobs to their dependents had been among other issues that his government touched upon, he said. “Still we have to cover several other issues,” he said during his brief interaction with the media after the last day of the monsoon session of the state Assembly ended on Wednesday. The session could be the last before the impending Assembly elections. A team of the Election Commission has already visited the state and took the views of leaders of different political parties and issued directions to the officials on dos and don’ts. Stating that his tenure has been good and challenging, Soren, however, said his thoughts were directed toward speedy work in several areas. “My brief tenure as chief minister has been very important for me,” he said, adding that his legislature career, deputy chief minister’s post and now the CM’s chair have as a student of politics, enhanced his experience. To a query on drought-like situation following reported scanty rainfall in Jharkhand, Soren said final shape was being given after survey of different areas and if necessary the government would announce those areas as drought-hit. The preliminary survey had found situation of drought in Palamau and Garhwa districts and if it was also found during a second round of inspection, those two districts could be declared drought-hit, he said. Earlier in the Assembly, the Chief Minister said his government was serious about the drought-like situation and was taking steps on war footing. PTI
