Farmer commits suicide during AAP rally. Ibnlive[/caption] The farmer was identified as Gajender Singh from Dausa in Rajasthan and has three children. He allegedly killed himself over the loss of his crops this season. Finger pointing ensued and comments had started flowing regarding the incident. On Thursday, after the issue was brought for discussion in both the Houses of Parliament, leaders of all political parties erupted and was the most talked of issue throughout the day. From Prime Minister Narendra Modi to actor Shah Rukh Khan, many reacted to the unfortunate incident. Prime Minister Narendra Modi: For many years, farmers suicide has been a cause of concern for the nation and governments. Because of yesterday’s incident, the grief in country has been expressed here. I join in the grief expressed in Lok Sabha. We also have to see which wrong road we walked and what were the wrong steps taken in the past & present. We should all vow to work together and find a solution for this age old problem. Rahul Gandhi (Congress): I had earlier said that the farmers are being punished by the Modi government. I had said that they only help industrialists. This is causing tremendous pain to the farmers of the country. This is sad. But we will do whatever we can for the farmers. We are going to fight the land ordinance. Shah Rukh Khan: “Nobody kills themselves 2 end their life, they do so 2 end the pain.” Take a moment, feel the pain not look for gain & stop the blame game!
BS Bassi (Delhi Police Commissioner): The Delhi police chief refused to cooperate with the magisterial probe ordered by AAP government stating that it does not report to the state government. “Whenever we get a request to hold rally and the number is huge, we advise a change in location,” Bassi said. Kumar Vishwas (AAP): The situation is such now that a person had to end their life to get the attention of the government Sanjay Singh (AAP): It was our volunteers and not police who took him to the hospital. Rajnath Singh (BJP): Deeply pained to hear the news of a farmer committing suicide at Jantar Mantar. Instructed Delhi CP to institute an inquiry into the incident. Ashutosh (AAP): Over 600 farmers committed suicide in Maharashtra. Shouldn’t the govt focus on that? There should be head roll in the police department for dereliction of duty. The cops were mute spectators. Next time if something similar happens the Delhi CM would climb the tree and try to save the person. Sitaram Yechury (CPM): This is not about an individual. The whole system needs a rejig. This land acquisition ordinance is further adding up to misery of farmers. Sambit Patra (BJP): This is a conspiracy. You (Kejriwal) knew very well that the man had who climbed the tree was going to commit suicide. But you played politics over his dead body. Somnath Bharti (AAP): Disturbing and shocked to see a young man attempting to commit suicide by hanging from the tree. It seems to be a well thought conspiracy. Sachin Pilot (Congress): We will give support to the farmer’s family. This is not just the issue of one farmer but the issue of all farmers who are dissatisfied with the government. Farmers are hanging themselves from a tree. What can be more sad and pathetic than this? Ajay Maken (Congress): The organisers could have been more sensitive. I am not in a state of mind to comment on this. I have just seen a farmer who committed suicide. I am not in the proper state of mind.
