Funding row: AVAM goes to Election Commission against Kejriwal's AAP

New Delhi: AAP’s breakaway group AAP Volunteer Action Manch (AVAM) on Thursday approached the Election Commission and Economic Offences Wing of Delhi Police seeking action against the party on the basis of its allegation on the donation issue. AVAM met Chief Election Commissioner H S Brahma and requested him to probe the allegations which it has levelled against AAP. PTI](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/AAP-supporters_PTI1.jpg) Representational image. PTI[/caption] On Tuesday, the group had accused AAP of receiving Rs 2 crore last year through four “dubious” companies, a claim which was strongly rejected by AAP. “The Chief Election Commissioner has taken notice of our complaint,” said Karan Singh of AVAM. Later, at a press conference, the group faced heat from the media as it failed to answer questions about the “proof” it claimed it has for substantiating the allegations. “We are not an investigative agency. We are public- spirited citizens,” another AVAM leader, Gopal Goyal, said when questions were asked about the credibility of his claims against AAP. Singh said that an AVAM delegation also met the DCP of Economic Offences Wing and apprised him of the allegations against AAP. Asked about the legal notice slapped on him by AAP donor Jaskirat Mann rubbishing the allegations against the party, Goyal denied having received it. The AVAM leaders also talked about why they had parted ways with AAP. PTI
