Frenemy No 1: How Raj Thackeray ruined Narendra Modi's moment

Conincidences aren’t always a good thing, as Narendra Modi found out today. Even as Modi was showcasing his kinder and gentler avatar on CNBC-Awaaz, holding forth on his vision of happy, peaceful Team India  with all states and the centre pulling together as “family,” MNS leader Thackeray was on CNN-IBN putting on his fieriest right wing best. AFP[/caption] All this in an interview that began with Thackeray declaring unequivocally, “My main priority this election is to make Modi the PM.” Sometimes, your friends can do more damage than your enemies.  Think of it as an early omen of things to come for future prime minister Modi whose biggest albatross may well be his most loyal rightwing allies.
