PTI”]  [/caption] The North-Eastern state has 8,58,390 male voters, far outnumbered by the female figure of 8,91,914. There are a total number of 279 candidates in the fray. Fifteen of them are females, a pathetic number in a state, where the womenfolk is otherwise always in the forefront in the other spheres of life. Battered by violence and economic blockades, the assembly election may be another hope for Manipur to come out of its miseries.
