Congress General Secretary and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijaya Singh will hold a seven-day hunger strike in Guna district in Madhya Pradesh, starting from Monday on 11 am. PTI[/caption] “Venue of my hunger strike is Guna MP in front of Collector’s office on 7th from 11 am.Singh’s protest is against the alleged apathy on the part of the state government in providing compensation to farmers whose crops were damaged by natural calamities. “I am sitting on a 7 day hunger strike to raise the issues of Farmers in MP Compensation not paid for crop damage because of Hail and floods,” tweeted Singh.
Singh added that farmers who had lost soyabean crops due to the calamities were yet to get crop insurance, soyabeen seeds and fertilizers. “Appeal to all Farmers to move to the nearest road to their village and do Dharna on 7th from 11 am to 5 pm if they haven’t got compensation,” added Singh in a tweet.
On the other hand, Guna district collector Sandeep Yadav told PTI that relief and compensation funds had been given to all the affected in the district.
