As if all the drama over the Asaram Bapu sexually assaulting a 16-year old was not enough on its own, the issue has led to yet another social media slinging match, with Congress General Secretary Digivijaya Singh taking a dig at Sushma Swaraj on Twitter. Digvijay Singh accused BJP, in particular its leader Sushma Swaraj, of double standards, asking why she was silent on rape allegations against self-styled godman Asaram when she has been vocal on the issue of atrocities on women. In a tweet, he expressed surprise as to why Swaraj, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha is “quiet” in Asaram’s case despite being the “most vocal voice” of BJP against atrocities against women. Why is she quiet in Asaram’s case”, he said. “I want to know from Sushma why she has not said a word on Asaram whom a minor girl has charged with molestation,” Singh said. Sushma Swaraj replied to the tweet this morning. “I told the media in Vidisha yesterday also. In our country we have a law that is same for everybody,” she said, adding that the law would take its own course. Meanwhile, the 72-year-old self-styled godman was arrested on Saturday midnight by Jodhpur police from his ashram in Indore. Jodhpur police along with Asaram have reached New Delhi. From Delhi, he will be taken to Jodhpur for questioning. The deadline for Asaram to surrender in the sexual assault case ended on Friday . Asaram had been dodging the police, on health grounds and switching his base from Bhopal to Indore.
