Delhi polls: Kiran Bedi 'confident' of 'Modi victory' in capital

New Delhi: Facing a stiff competition from a resurgent AAP, BJP’s chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi today said people of Delhi must seize the opportunity of electing two leaders – herself and Prime Minister Narendra Modi – to take the city to “new heights”. PTI[/caption] Exuding confidence of a BJP victory, Bedi appealed to the people to come out in large numbers and vote. “Today is a historic day. Delhiites have to decide what kind of Delhi they want - a clean Delhi, a secure Delhi, a capable Delhi, a Delhi that respects women. Respecting women is respecting Delhi. I appeal people to come out and vote. “The voters are getting the opportunity to elect two leaders in this election. My victory in Delhi would mean the Prime Minister’s leadership as well,” Bedi said after casting her vote in Malviya Nagar constituency. The former ‘Team Anna’ member, who is contesting from Krishna Nagar constituency in East Delhi, said the BJP was determined to ensure all round development of all sections. Bedi was made BJP’s chief ministerial candidate on January 15. Hitting out at her rival Arvind Kejriwal, 65-year-old Bedi said, “He does not even live in Delhi. He lives in Ghaziabad. I have been connected with the people here for over 40 years.” Bedi took on AAP’s 49-day government in Delhi, saying the party was misleading people for electoral benefits and that a BJP government would take the city to “new heights”. Meanwhile, Shazia Ilmi, who switched sides from AAP to BJP, today accused a section of the media of favouring AAP in run up to the polls. PTI
