The police arrested the second accused, Pradeep, allegedly involved in the rape of the five-year-old girl in Delhi from Bihar’s Darbhanga district late Sunday night. The main accused, Manoj Kumar Sah, who was arrested on Saturday, had told the police that Pradeep was an accomplice in the crime. Subsequently, the Delhi police had launched a hunt for the second accused in the rape of the five-year-old. Earlier, the police had denied the role of a second person in the rape. Meanwhile, protests in Delhi demanding the removal of Police Commissioner continued for the third day yesterday. AP[/caption] The girl, a resident of east Delhi’s Gandhi Nagar, was abducted by Manoj, a labourer, who lived on the ground floor of the same house in the working class neighbourhood. He kept her hostage for two days without food and water and subjected her to brutal repeated rape. She was rescued when her family members heard her screams Wednesday, the police said. Accused Manoj Kumar had said that he had an accomplice, Pradeep, who also came from Bihar and was staying in a rented accommodation in Loni, Ghaziabad. A police source said that Pradeep gagged her and raped her. Manoj then suggested that the girl be killed to protect their identities. When they thought she was dead, both left the place and went in different directions. The rape victim continues to fight for her life at AIIMS.
A day after the main accused in a five-year-old girl’s rape, Manoj Kumar Sah, was arrested, Delhi Police on Sunday confirmed the role of a second accused in the heinous crime.
