Delhi: AAP chooses Kejriwal as CM; no word on ministers yet

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party has announced that its party will stake claim to form the next government in Delhi and Arvind Kejriwal will be its chief minister. However, that’s about all the clarity that exists on Delhi’s next government for now. While Kejriwal made the announcement that the AAP would form the next government outside the party office in Kaushambhi, the party’s MLAs and candidates were under going training at the Constitution Club of India. The club was swamped by party workers even as the MLAs remained locked away. The training session was being conducted by AAP senior leader Gopal Rai, a party worker told Firstpost . Soon after Rai entered the building over 70 copies of Arvind Kejriwal’s book ‘Swaraj’ were carried into the meeting room where the MLAs were seated. Asim Ali, who’s from Krishnagar constituency and whose father was the AAP candidate against BJP’s CM candidate Harsh Vardhan, said, “The training is about helping the MLAs and candidates understand the concept of swaraj and how they will work to ensure that it is achieved.” [caption id=“attachment_1302521” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![The next Chief Minister of Delhi. AFP image[/caption] “It is to help them work with the people and ensure that swaraj is achieved,” he said. But swaraj wasn’t the only topic of discussion outside the Constitution Club. There was also talk of who would be included in cabinet of the new Delhi government. “Manish Sisodia might be made deputy Chief Minister,” a party worker, who did not wish to be named, said. “No,no, there will be no deputy CM, you don’t know what you are talking about,” another contradicted him almost immediately. Other names that are being heard for ministers posts include Vinod Kumar Binny, Rakhi Birla, and Rajesh Garg, who won from Rohini. Rakhi Birla won the Mangolpuri seat beating Congress minister Raj Kumar Chauhan. At 26, she is also the youngest MLA to win in recent state elections. For now, the party’s training is expected to last till 5 pm. There’s a lunch break at 2 but as Ali said the MLAs and the candidates won’t be stepping out to talk to the press. However, Arvind Kejriwal is expected to meet with the MLAs during the course of the training.
