Day after Narendra Modi's 'battlefield' jibe, Rahul Gandhi preps for 3 rallies in Himachal Pradesh on Monday

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi toured the election-bound Himachal Pradesh on Saturday and took several digs at the Congress saying no senior leader of the party had come to the state to campaign, Congress announced that party vice-president Rahul Gandhi will campaign in the state on 6 November. Rahul was in Gujarat on Friday. In Himachal Pradesh, Rahul will hold three rallies — Sirmour, Chamba and Kangra. The state will go to polls on 9 November. After Modi’s speech in Himachal Pradesh, Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewla tweeted the schedule and said: “Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi will address three election rallies in Himachal on 6 November.”

Meanwhile, the prime minister on Sunday described the poll-battle in Himachal as ‘one-sided’ as the Congress is “running away from the battlefield” and added that the party had nothing left to do but grieve in the coming days. They have already left the field leaving everything on fate,” Modi said. In a series of meetings in Himachal Pradesh, Modi also said he was unfazed by the Congress’s protest call on the anniversary of demonetisation and stressed that by burning his effigies, the party could not stop him from carrying forward the fight against corruption and black money. “I can understand the pain of my Congress brothers. Their problem is that a tea-seller has become the prime minister, a poor mother’s son has reached this level. They felt they had reserved this seat forever, but this public knows all,” he said. Modi, who addressed poll meetings – called Parivartan Rally – in Una, Palampur and Kullu to give a fillip to the BJP’s poll campaign, accused former prime minister Indira Gandhi of not going for a note ban when she needed to, and said he would not have had to carry out this elaborate an exercise had she taken the step for demonetisation years ago.   Follow Rahul Gandhi’s rallies in Himachal Pradesh here LIVE
