Mumbai: Counting of votes for the Assembly byelections to Bandra (East) in suburban Mumbai and Tasgaon Kavthe-Mahankal in Sangli district began on Wednesday morning.
In Tasgaon-Kavthe Mahankal bypoll, NCP candidate Suman Patil, the widow of party stalwart RR Patil, polled 4,991 votes after first round.
She was ahead of BJP rebel and independent candidate Swapnil Patil, who was on second position with 718 votes.
After the first round of counting for Bandra East assembly bypoll, former chief minister Narayan Rane of Congress was trailing behind Shiv Sena’s Tripti Sawant.
After first round of counting of votes, Sawant polled 2,559 votes, while Rane secured 1,512 votes.
The MIM nominee polled 295 votes.
