Congress shares video of Narendra Modi's past interviews to defend 'pliable journalist' jibe, laments 'state of Indian journalism'

The Congress party on Thursday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi by sharing an edited video of the prime minister’s interviews over the years during his tenure, which the party claimed were conducted by “pliable” journalists.

Earlier, on Wednesday, Rahul had taken a dig at ANI editor Smita Prakash for holding a “staged” interview of the prime minister on Wednesday. During a press conference, Rahul told reporters: “He (Modi) does not have the guts to come and sit in front of you. And I am coming here… you can ask me any question… I come here once in seven-ten days… and you saw the prime minister’s interview yesterday…matlab pliable journalist, woh question bi kar rahi thi, pradhan mantri ka answer bi de rahi thi, side mein (she was asking questions as well as giving the answers on the side).” However, the Congress chief was widely criticised for putting labels on journalists and coining yet another term to degrade the fourth estate after BJP’s “presstitutes” jibe. Prakash took to Twitter to target Rahul over his remarks.

It was after the furore created by the use of the word “pliable” by Rahul that the grand old party on Thursday shared a compilation mocking “similar interviews” of the Modi. The party captioned the video on Twitter as: “Pliable isn’t offensive, it’s the state of Indian journalism today”.
