Congress questions PM Modi's hypocritical position on Intolerance

Thiruvananthapuram: The Congress party in Kerala, which has decided to go out on an all-out offensive against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), on Friday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to stop his hypocrisy on intolerance.

“We all heard Modi speaking of intolerance in his speech in London on Thursday and this is the classic example of his hypocritical statements because in London, he speaks against intolerance, while in India his actions fuels intolerance,” said Kerala Congress president V.M. Sudheeran in a statement issued here on Friday. Also we saw an article in the RSS party organ ‘Organiser’ that questions the self respect of we Keralites. This is the hypocritical position of Modi,” added Sudheeran. Sudheeran’s statement against Modi comes a few hours after a two-day meeting of the Congress in Kerala that was held to analyse the set-back in the recent civic polls. The party decided in the meeting to unleash an all-out attack against the BJP’s “communal and fascist” tendencies. The meeting concluded that the Congress ended up on the losing side for taking a soft stand on a new tie up between the BJP and the Hindu Ezhava social group of the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) led by Vellapally Natesan.
