Congress defends Vadra, not country: Modi

Dwarka (Gujarat): Chiding the Manmohan Singh government for “coming out in defence” of Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today said Congress “lacks” such sensitivity in expressing solidarity with victims of terrorism. “There were some allegations against the son-in-law of a family and the entire Manmohan Singh government is fielded (to defend him). This might be some personal matter of him and in the course of time truth would come out,” Modi said without naming Vadra. AP[/caption] “But after the allegations the entire Delhi sultanate was caught in such a fear that they felt this was a big storm…a big scandal and they should do something to save him, and the entire Manmohan Singh government came out in his defence,” Modi said in an apparent reference to Vadra while addressing a rally in this temple town in Jamnagar district. “When many people are killed in terror attack, entire Central government never comes out to raise its voice against terrorism…One of their spokespersons speak and matter ends there,” Modi said. “In case of any natural disaster also we have never seen that the entire government being fielded,” he said. “This is for the first time that the entire government, all its ministers are deputed to defend the ‘jamai raja’ (son-in-law),” he alleged. During his campaign in the poll-bound state, this is for the first time that Modi has raked up the issue of Robert Vadra, although without naming him, and instead chose to attack Congress government for ‘shielding’ him. On Congress MP from Porbandar Vitthal Radadia brandishing a gun at a toll booth, Modi said Congress has taken no action so far against Radadia for his act. PTI
