Cong rules out Bansal's resignation, says SC will decide Ashwani's fate

New Delhi: Coming out in support of beleaguered Railways Minister, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath today rejected demands for his resignation over the Railway bribery case saying it was a “bad tradition” to seek resignations over allegations. Nath said as probe was going on in the case, the truth would come out and only then it will be known who was wrong. “The probe is going on. The truth should come out. It is a bad tradition to ask for any resignations before the probe is complete,” Nath told reporters when asked about BJP’s demand for Pawan Bansal’s resignation. PTI[/caption] Nath said BJP had refused to act when charges came out against its former president Nitin Gadkari. “Did BJP not save Gadkari?” he said. Meanwhile, to a question on the affidavit of CBI Director in the Supreme Court stating that the Law Minister had made changes in its status report on the coal block allocations, External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid said it is not appropriate to discuss any matter pending before the court. “Anything can be said only if we know the situation, the context and the subject,” he said. At the same time, Khurshid said one cannot “draw a line and expect the Law Minister to shut his eyes and ears. It is not possible. Keeping in mind the situation and the context, whatever is correct or not, has to be decided by the Law Minister. Who else will decide?” He, however, said the final decision lay with the Supreme Court. Till the time Parliament makes a law, the gaps are looked after by the Supreme Court. “The order of the Supreme Court will be honoured,” he said. Information and Broadcasting Affairs Minister Manish Tewari refrained from commenting on the issue saying, “I do not know what CBI has filed (in Supreme Court). I do not comment on matters that are subjudice in court. If the Union of India has anything to say, it will articulate through its law officers in court.” PTI
