Cong rallies behind Rahul, calls Vaidik a 'RSS volunteer'

New Delhi: The controversy over journalist Ved Pratap Vaidik’s meeting with 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed refuses to die down with the Congress today dubbing him as an “RSS volunteer beyond any doubt” and seeking to know the “hidden agenda” behind the meet. “Vaidik is an RSS volunteer beyond any doubt… His entire family at Indore in Madhya Pradesh is known to be an RSS family. His father was among the prominent workers of the erstwhile Jansangh in Madhya Bharat,” party spokesperson Shobha Oza told reporters.

Oza, who herself hails from Madhya Pradesh, said, “Vaidik is an RSS volunteer beyond any doubt and to deny it is a white lie.” Wondering as to who was instrumental in ensuring Vaidik’s meeting with Hafiz, she said that even Pakistani journalists can’t meet the terror mastermind who carries a reward of $ 10 million.

She said that the record of calls of Vaidik needed to be thoroughly probed as also it needed to be investigated whom he had met before and after the Pakistan visit. Facing all-round attack, government has already disapproved of and condemned the meeting and said it has sought a report from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad about whether it was aware of this.

At the AICC briefing, K Raju, head of the party’s SC department, condemned the appointment of Sudershan Rao as the Chairperson of the Indian Council of Historical Research. He claimed that Rao’s views eulogising caste reveal his ideological bias and are an insult to leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and B R Ambedkar.

“Rao’s views go against the very spirit of the Indian Constitution that rejects the caste system and argues for a society built on equality, justice, freedom and fraternity,” Raju said.
