Cong leaders did not meet Modi in Kashmir as they don't care about people: BJP

Jammu: Lambasting Kashmir Congress leaders for not meeting the Prime Minister during his visit to Srinagar on Diwali, BJP on Friday alleged that Congress is not concerned about the people otherwise its leaders would have called on Narendra Modi to discuss the situation after floods. [caption id=“attachment_1771097” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]BJP alleged that Congress leaders did not meet PM Narendra Modi in Kashmir as they are not concerned about the people. Agencies BJP alleged that Congress leaders did not meet PM Narendra Modi in Kashmir as they are not concerned about the people. Agencies[/caption] “They (Congress) are more concerned about vote bank politics than addressing the miseries of the people,” state BJP chief and party MP from Jammu Jugal Kishore Sharma told reporters in Jammu. “Congress’ anti-people policies have been exposed over their failure to meet the Prime Minister in Srinagar. “If they were really concerned about addressing the miseries of the flood-hit people, they would have come to meet the Prime Minister and discuss issues with him, but Congress is more worried about vote bank politics,” Sharma alleged. “They are desperate about the popularity of the Prime Minister. For Prime Minister, politics is not priority. But his priority is to address the grievances of the people who were affected by the flood,” he said. “Never in India’s history this ever happened. This was for the first time that a Prime Minister went to Siachen to celebrate Diwali with the soldiers who guard our frontiers. He thanked the soldiers as it is because of their sacrifices that we celebrate the festival peacefully,” Sharma said. He said during the visit, BJP leaders met Modi and apprised him with the situation along the International Border in Jammu. “The BJP delegation apprised the PM about the problems being faced by the border residents, who have been rendered homeless because of the cross-border firings,” Sharma said. BJP spokesman Sunil Sethi said the party requested the PM to grant ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh to next of the kin of those killed because of firings by Pakistan. State vice-president of the party Ramesh Arora said they requested the Prime Minister to sanction a plot of five marlhas each in “safer locations” to the families affected by the firings. PTI
