CBI raids at Lalu Prasad's properties: Nitish Kumar meets JD(U), to take call on Tejashwi Yadav after four days

The JD(U) will soon decide on its opinion over the fate of Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav in the state’s cabinet as Chief Minister Nitish Kumar chaired a meeting with party MLAs regarding the issue on Tuesday. After the meeting, JD(U) leader Ramai Rama told ANI that the party will discuss on Tejashwi again after four days. Another leader also pressed for hope on getting information on Tejashwi’s actual link to the alleged corruption case registered against him by CBI. “We know how to keep an alliance, we hope that the person who has been alleged (of corruption) will release the facts in the public domain,” JD(U) leader Neeraj Kumar said, according to ANI.

Kumar, who is also the JD(U) president, met party ministers, legislators and office-bearers at his 1, Anne Marg residence to discuss the political situation in Bihar arising out of the growing demand for the resignation of Tejashwi, son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav. Meanwhile, BJP leader Sushil Modi accused Congress of supporting RJD. “Like earlier, Congress is standing in favor of the corrupt,” he said.

Ahead of the meeting, party leaders had made it clear that  there would be "no compromise"  with Kumar’s policy of “zero tolerance” against corruption. JD(U) general secretary Sanjay Jha also said that Kumar, through his hard work, has made a big name for himself Bihar in the last 12 years, and that they “cannot allow it to be diluted”. The RJD, which held its legislature party leaders meeting on Monday, has already ruled out Tejashwi’s resignation. Lalu at present is in Ranchi to appear in a multi-crore fodder scam case. He is expected to return to Patna by Tuesday evening. The CBI has registered the case against Lalu, his wife and former chief minister of Bihar, Rabri Devi, his son Tejashwi, former Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) managing director PK Goyal, and Lalu’s confidante Prem Chand Gupta’s wife Sujata on allegations of irregularities in awarding the tender for development, maintenance and operation of hotels in Ranchi and Puri in 2006.
