In a huge embarrassment to the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), a party corporator Ashish Damle was caught on camera ransacking an ashram of local spiritual leader Ratnakar Maharaj in Badlapur along with 20-25 goons and allegedly robbing Rs one lakh.
The incident took place on the night of 2 June at an ashram called Sadhna Bhuvan in Thane district.
In the video, Damle and his men are seen manhandling a woman as well.
The video also shows that the corporator was accompanied by two security personnel.
However, ABPLive has a slightly different version of the incident where they allege that the purpose of the corporator’s visit to the ashram was to pick up a girl he was having an affair with.
When the people at the ashram tried stopping Damle from taking the girl, he and his men started fighting with them
Damle, who is currently absconding, has a case of robbery registered against him
A case under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), 457 (lurking house-trespass) and 506 (criminal intimidation) and other relevant sections of IPC has been registered in the connection, said API P S Giri of Kulgaon Police Station.
Meanwhile, NCP has expeleld Damle from the party.
“NCP has expelled the said corporator from the party as nobody has right to take law into their hands”, said party spokesperson Nawab Malik.
