Panaji: Congress leader and the leader of opposition in Goa Assembly Pratapsingh Rane on Thursday termed the officials of the US-based firm Louis Berger as “rascals” for allegedly making false allegations. [caption id=“attachment_2353036” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]Former Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat. Former Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat.[/caption] Speaking in the House, he also demanded a CBI inquiry into the bribery case allegedly involving the company and a former Goa minister. “Some Tom, Dick and Harry makes some funny remarks. They are making false statements. Some Tom, Dick and Harry says they have paid so-so minister, so-so amount. Proper inquiry needs to be done. Just calling a former chief minister to the police station is not a good sign. He (Digambar Kamat) is a respected legislator,” said Rane. “Why they (Louis Berger officials) are not arrested? Catch hold of those rascals. We have been calling a former Chief Minister to police station. This sort of thing should not happen,” he added. Goa Police’s crime branch has so far questioned Kamat, a former Chief Minister, and former Public Works Department Minister Churchill Alemao in the case. The investigation started after officials of the US-based company confessed in a court in that country that they had paid bribe to an Indian minister to win consultancy contract for water augmentation and sewerage pipeline project in Goa in 2010 (when Congress was in power). “If they have done something wrong, inquire into it, find out or refer the matter to CBI,” Rane said.
