The release of the controversial film Aarakshan that deals with the issue of reservation, was stayed by the Madras High Court yesterday. However the judicial decision had nothing to do with the actual content of the film.
Firstpost spoke to Network 18 entertainment correspondent Pratibha Parameshwaran who told us that the stay order was the result of a dispute between producer Firoz A Nadiadwala who had borrowed a sum of Rs 3.75 crore from one Madhu Gupta as funding for the film. Gupta has told the court that the money was borrowed on the premise that it would be returned before the film was released, but said he had not received the money back as yet.
