Amid growing speculations regarding candidates for the country’s next president, the BJP today clearly reaffirmed its choice in former president APJ Abdul Kalam. “If a name is supported by Mamata Banerjee and Sharad Pawar, we will support it. If Mulayam Singh Yadav takes Kalam’s name, then we can respond favourably,” Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said. BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad also endorsed Swaraj’s statement while interacting with the media in the national capital. [caption id=“attachment_293673” align=“alignleft” width=“380” caption=“PTI”]  [/caption] Making it clear that BJP will not support Congress’s candidate, Swaraj said, “Pranab is a Congressman and Ansari is not of same stature.” The names that have been doing the rounds in the Congress quarters are that of Hameed Ansari and also of AK Antony. The DMK has promised their support to Congress’s candidate. The DMK, however made clear its opposition to Kalam’s candidature. Meanwhile, Kalam has refused to comment on his name being thrown in again for the presidency. “Let us wait for some time…After some time, you ask me,” Kalam said.
