BJP wants Kalam back at Raisina Hill: Swaraj

Amid growing speculations regarding candidates for the country’s next president, the BJP today clearly reaffirmed its choice in former president APJ Abdul Kalam. “If a name is supported by Mamata Banerjee and Sharad Pawar, we will support it. If Mulayam Singh Yadav takes Kalam’s name, then we can respond favourably,” Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said. BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad also endorsed Swaraj’s statement while interacting with the media in the national capital. The DMK has promised their support to Congress’s candidate. The DMK, however made clear its opposition to Kalam’s candidature. Meanwhile, Kalam has refused to comment on his name being thrown in again for the presidency. “Let us wait for some time…After some time, you ask me,” Kalam said.
