BJP refuses to accept AAP as main opposition in Delhi polls

New Delhi: Coming down heavily on Aam Aadmi Party, the BJP in Delhi refused to acknowledge its existence and that it was the saffron party’s main opponent in the Assembly elections, which is likely to be held next year. Recalling AAP’s performance in Lok Sabha elections, BJP leaders like Delhi in-charge Prabhat Jha, state unit chief Satish Upadhyay and MP Ramesh Bidhuri said “they don’t exist”. AFP[/caption] “In Lok Sabha elections, they (AAP) fought elections on 415 seats, but what happened everyone knows. They faced worst defeat. They do not exist,” Jha told reporters here. “I don’t want to comment on a party which is on a ventilator in ICU and it (AAP) will finish after Assembly elections. We are very confident that people would give a clear mandate to BJP, which will fight for the development of people,” he said Upadhyay also took on AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal for leaving people in the lurch. “They (Kejriwal) did nothing in eradicating corruption in 49 days of their government. They had just made false promises to thousands of contractual employees, but they didn’t make them permanent,” Upadhyay said. Bidhuri said that AAP is “finished” and exuded confidence that the electorate will give BJP a majority. “After Lok Sabha elections, AAP has now been finished and we do not assume it a political party and our main opponent. BJP will get clear mandate,” Bidhuri said. BJP has decided to apprise the people about the stalled development works and its adverse consequences due to “anarchy” created by Congress and AAP during the last one year, he said. Meanwhile, Jha today held a meeting with all party spokespersons and directed them to prepare before going to debates on any news channel and study the details of good works done by BJP-ruled Centre and municipal corporations. “All party spokespersons have been asked to study the details of good works done by Central government and municipal corporations. Besides, we have also been directed to prepare themselves before going to any news channel debate,” one of the spokespersons said. In the meeting, Jha also stressed upon the need to use the social media, 3D technology. PTI
