New Delhi: Congress on Monday downplayed UPA outside supporter Samajwadi Party’s stringent criticism of India’s handling of Chinese incursion and rejected Mulayam Singh Yadav’s contention that government was “weak”. “Samajwadi is not stalling Parliament on this issue. You must have seen even today that MPs who came into the well in the Lok Sabha are purely and purely members of BJP. [caption id=“attachment_738827” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]
Mulayam Singh Yadav[/caption] “Mulayam Singh Yadav has a strong opinion about China… He said it will be good if the Prime Minsiter and the Defence Minister come and clarify the situation. He also said Parliament must be taken into confidence on the exact situation on the border. That was the sum of what he said on the issue,” party spokesperson Sandip Dikshit told reporters here. Dikshit said he completely rejects Yadav’s opinion that it is a “weak government”. “This is a powerful and strong government, We are a responsible government. The government responds to any action on our border with responsibility. “They (government) are well aware of the situation and what is happening in that part of Ladakh and I am sure as and when an appropriate action is necessary, the government will take it,” the Congress spokesperson said. He also emphasized that war is not an option in such scenarios. “I do not think that war is an option which should be exercised so easily. When it comes to any situation anywhere for defending the territorial integrity of India, government will stand firm. There are many other ways of tackling an issues. We must explore all issues before we take the issue of war or aggression,” he said. Dikshit said “if any situation arises whether it is on Pakistan border, China border or any other issue, our policy is very clear. “Our borders are safe and if any body intrudes in our territory, government of India will take action,” he said.
