In an image, accompanying the tweet, the party said that the reported action was taken after the prime minister handed over a list of Dawood's properties during a 2015 visit to the United Arab Emirates and demanded that the authorities act against Dawood, Hindustan Times reported.
The tweet, put up on the BJP Twitter account, claimed this was the biggest ever crackdown on the Mumbai serial blasts mastermind and that efforts were on to bring Dawood back to India to face justice.
Dawood, who is believed to be hiding in Pakistan, has been accused of financing Al-Qaeda and the Lashkar-e-Taiba. He is also facing multiple charges of money laundering and extortion.
