Over 52.01 percent of the total 2.85 crore electors in 94 constituencies of Bihar exercised their franchise till 6 pm in the second phase of voting on Tuesday, according to Election Commission’s Voter Turnout App.
Among the 17 districts where these 94 seats are located, the highest poll percentage of 58.72 has been recorded in Muzaffarpur and the lowest voter turnout was registered at Patna with 46.57 percent.
Raghopur in Vaishali, where RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav is contesting from, has recorded a turnout of 52.34 percent.

As per the Voter turnout mobile application, the estimated overall voter turnout at 5:30 pm was recorded at 51.68 percent. Muzaffarpur district reported the highest voter turnout at 57.08 percent, followed by Paschim Champaran at 55.99 percent, and Khagaria at 54.49 percent.
Patna saw the lowest voter turnout after 10 hours of polling with only 46.57 percent.

Hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday alleged they have “looted” Bihar, and claimed that people have decided to vote them out of power.
Addressing a poll rally Katihar, the former Congress president criticised the NDA government over demonetisation, migrant crisis, GST, handling of the coronavirus pandemic and the three new farm laws.
He said neither Modi nor Kumar did anything to help migrant labourers when they were walking thousands of kilometres to return homes during the coronavirus lockdown.

About 34 percent of 1,463 candidates in the second phase of the Bihar Assembly election have declared criminal cases against themselves, according to a report by poll rights group Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).
About 27 percent or 389 candidates have declared serious criminal cases against themselves, it said. Serious criminal cases are non-bailable offences with over five years of imprisonment.
As many as 502 or 34 percent of the candidates have declared criminal cases against themselves.
A total of 495 or nearly 34 percent have given their financial assets worth crores of rupees while three candidates have declared zero assets, the report said.
According to the report, 36 (64 percent) out of 56 candidates analysed from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) have declared criminal cases against themselves and 28 (50 percent) have declared serious criminal cases against themselves in their affidavits.

A Sub Inspector of the Border Security Force (BSF) on duty at a polling booth in the Lalganj Assembly seat in Bihar died of heart attack on Tuesday. The security man felt acute pain in chest while he was on duty at booth number 181 following which he was taken to Hajipur sadar hospital.

Over 1,200 candidates in the Bihar polls have declared criminal cases against themselves, with 115 of them accused in cases related to crimes against women and 73 candidates facing cases related to murder, according to a report by poll rights group Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).
Out of the 3,722 Bihar assembly election candidates analysed, 1,201 (32 percent) candidates have declared criminal cases against themselves, the report said. In the 2015 Bihar assembly elections, out of 3,450 candidates analysed, 1,038 (30 percent) had declared criminal cases against themselves, it added.

As of 9 am, the voter turnout in second phase of Bihar Assembly polls is 0.38 percent. Voting began at 7 am on Tuesday and so far Bhagalpur has registered a voting percentage of 2.82 percent while Sitamarhi sees 3.53 percent.
The first phase of the state polls, when a turnout of 55.68 percent was recorded, was conducted on 28 October.

Among the major parties, the RJD is contesting 56 of the 94 seats while its ally Congress is contesting 24. The CPI and CPM, which joined the Grand Alliance recently, are fighting four seats each. Out of the total 1,463 candidates in the second phase, 1,316 are men, 146 are women and one is transgender. Of the total 2,85,50,285 voters 1,50,33,034 are male, 1,35,16,271 female and 980 transgender, according to the Election Commission.
