New Delhi: On the eve of Narendra Modi’s rally, a dengue scare prompted municipal authorities to launch an extensive drive today to eliminate mosquitoes at the venue. Mosquito breeding sites were detected recently in North Delhi’s Japanese Park, where Modi’s much anticipated rally is scheduled tomorrow. [caption id=“attachment_1140033” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]  PTI[/caption] According to a recent report released by the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), breeding of mosquito was detected at DDA’s Japanese Park, which falls under Rohini Zone, where close to 400 dengue cases have been reported. “Mosquito-breeding sites were found at Japanese Park and challans were issued, but the park is under DDA and they had found it in their inspection. MCD had just tabulated the findings,” NDMC Public Relation Officer (PRO) Yogendra Singh Mann said today. The same report also said that breeding of mosquitoes was detected in a DTC depot, Delhi Technological University and a Mother Dairy booth in Sector-9 of Rohini. “About 5 lakh people are expected to attend this rally. We cannot afford to risk people’s lives. So, we have got all the water stagnation cleared from the venue area, apart from fumigation. No one should go back sick from here,” Leader of the House in the BJP-led NDMC Mahender Nagpal told PTI. The BJP leader claimed: “no one will go back sick from the rally”. The party, meanwhile, is busy making elaborate preparations for the rally. “The rally, ‘Badlenge Dilli, Badlenge Bharat’ (Change Delhi, Change India), will leave a big impact. It will be a stepping stone for the upcoming Delhi elections. “It will highlight all the issues plaguing the city which has been turned into a slum by the Congress government as half of the city’s population doesn’t have any basic amenities,” Delhi BJP President Vijay Goel said at a press conference. BJP has deployed over 1,000 volunteers to manage the arrangements at the venue for medical aid, drinking water and other facilities. PTI
