All the buzz over Rahul Gandhi’s ‘beehive’ metaphor seems to be spiralling out of control.
It was the topic of a passionate rejoinder from Narendra Modi in his Gujarat rally on Saturday, who said that while India was a ‘beehive’ for Rahul, it was ‘mother’ to 11 crore Indians.
“Only Congress party leaders believe in India being a beehive. For us India is like mother. It has been the mother of 100 crore Indians. If you don’t have an understanding of Indian traditions, you should first learn about it. But you don’t have the right to hurt our sentiments.”
As Firstpost editor Sanjay Singh writes , “Modi knows that Rahul made the beehive reference in a different context but in large parts of India, beehive or Madhumakhi ka chatta, is a colloquial reference to trouble mongering. How far the Maa versus Madhumakhi Ka Chatta debate goes would be interesting to see.”
Rahul Gandhi made the beehive reference at a CII conference, when he said that India was a complex, buzzing country. And Congress stalwarts who have been rushing to ’explain’ Rahul’s speech ever since he made it, have rushed to his defence ever since.
The latest comment came from Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari who tweeted, “Amusing- Metaphors denoting energy dillegence cohesion&focus unity of purpose completely go over the heads of some self appointed jingoists”

No guesses as to who he is referring to and in what context!
