The BJP has gone hammer and tongs against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for accusing BJP MP Maheish Girri of alleged involvement in the murder of NDMC’s legal officer MM Khan. Protesting against the allegation, Girri has gone on a hunger strike in front of Kejriwal ’s official residence at Civil Lines. In an interview with Debobrat Ghose of Firstpost, Girri speaks about the allegation, protest and what stand the BJP plans to take against the Delhi Chief Minister. Excerpts: Q) Arvind Kejriwal has accused you of murder. What do you have to say on this? A) I don’t know why he has levelled these allegations against me. Either Kejriwal should prove his allegations or should resign. It is a false allegation. [caption id=“attachment_2845198” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] BJP MP Maheish Girri. Photo courtesy: Twitter @MaheishGirri[/caption] Q) Why is he targeting you? A) Maybe Kejriwal is scared of me because he knows me from the days of India Against Corruption (IAC) movement, and because I also know several things about him. Q) What is the truth behind this allegation? A) I do not know. There may be some misunderstanding or it may be his modus operandi that he always adapts – of levelling charges against anyone and then running away (y_e unki aadat hai ki aarop lagao aur bhag jao)_. This is his policy. Maybe he is using these tactics to divert the attention of the public from his failures. Kejriwal has blamed the President of India, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and others as agents of the central government or of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His tactic is to tell a lie hundred times and make it look like the truth. Q) How long will you be on hunger-strike? A) I am on hunger-strike since last afternoon, and would continue till Kejriwal comes out in public and proves his allegations or tenders his resignation. Q) What stand BJP will take on this issue? A) BJP President Amit Shah had called me and said that I have the party’s support. Senior leaders like Subramanian Swamy came here to express solidarity. I have the complete support of the party in this issue. Q) AAP got embroiled in the controversy related to Parliamentary Secretary in which its 21 MLAs could get disqualified. What is your opinion on the issue? A) AAP and its government is getting into controversies every day. Their MLAs are involved in corruption cases. To protect themselves, Kejriwal and company is levelling allegations against every other party. Q) Are you going to take any legal action against Kejriwal? A) I am in consultation with my lawyers to take legal action against Kejriwal. It may be in the form of a defamation suit as his allegations are baseless and false.
