Baba Ramdev’s plan to tear apart the Congress in his first speech of the fourth leg of his Bharat Swabhiman Yatra was a non-starter for reason he could not have anticipated. The main donor of a religious function in the state’s Botad Assembly constituency vetoed the idea of an anti-Congress speech as he turned out to be a supporter of key Gujarat Congressmen Shankersinh Vaghela and Shaktisinh Gohil. “It was a religious programme. When I came to know that Baba Ramdev was engaged in an anti-Congress campaign, I requested all the seers present there not to give political colour to the programme. So there was no speech by Baba Ramdev at Botad,” main donor Vallu Boriya was quoted by The Indian Express as saying.[caption id=“attachment_509310” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Baba Ramdev. However, Bharat Swabhiman’s Gujarat representative Varun Pandya, denied any such incident, as per The Indian Express report.
